Cornell in Washington DC: Bugs & Bombs – Preparing Intelligently for Bioterrorism

Featuring our classmate Amanda Ripley ’96 –

The 3/22 Cornell Panel on “Bugs & Bombs: Preparing Intelligently for Bioterrorism,” a partnership between the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies, the Cornell Club of Washington, Cornell in Washington, and Cornell on the Road.

We are pleased to announce that an additional panelist will be joining us: Dr. Rocco Casagrande ’85. Dr. Casagrande is the Managing Director of Gryphon Scientific, LLC, where he consults on chemical and biological warfare and defense for congressional offices and government agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, and the Department of Health and Human Services. From 2002-2003, Dr. Casagrande also served as a UN weapons inspector in Iraq, and was the chief of the UN biological analysis laboratory.

Cornell in Washington provides a “once in a lifetime” experience for students interested in gaining real-life experience in our nation’s capitol. CIW students have been interns at a wide variety of public institutions and private firms, including the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division; the Center for Disease Control; Amnesty International; Brookings Institution: Foreign Policy Studies Program; and, the Federal Reserve Board.
